Getting to DMI
Address
Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI)
Lyngbyvej 100
DK 2100 Copenhagen.
Train
- DMI is located right next to the
S-train station Ryparken, and is easily vissible as a red brick
building south east of the station.
- S-train lines Bx and A runs through
center of Copenhagen (stations Hovedbanegården (=Copenhagen
central station), Vesterport, Nørreport, and Østerport)
and passes Ryparken on the way north. The signed destinations
will be Farum or Bagsværd, when going from the center of town
toward DMI. Traveltime is about 15 minutes, with trains runing about
every 10 minutes in daytime.
- From
Copenhagen airport Metro trains run toward Vanløse from the
platform above ground
level. The Metro trains passes Nørreport, get off there and
change to one of the above S-trains.
- From Copenhagen airport ordinary trains
run from the platform below ground level. Make sure you take a train
that passes Hovedbanegården. At Hovedbanegården change to
one of the above S-trains.
- Access to both lower and upper train
platforms is found at the far end of the airport terminal relative to
the doors passed upon arrival.
- In front of the access points a ticket
office is located. It is mandatory to buy tickets prior to bording the
trains. All public trains and busses in greater Copenhagen use a common
ticket system. You can buy single tickets valid for a certain time and
distance, or you can buy punch cards, with each punch valid for a
certain time and distance. It takes a `yellow` card punch to get from
the airport to DMI, and a slightly cheaper `blue` card punch from the
airport to the center of Copenhagen, and again from the center of
Copenhagen to DMI. Punch cards have
